May Membership Meeting Minutes
APWU GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING 5-17-09
The General Membership Meeting was called to order at 3:07 p.m. on 5-17-09.
ROLL CALL:
President – Present
Vice President – Excused
Secretary/Treasurer – Present
Clerk Craft Director – Present
Industrial Relations Director – Present
Maintenance Craft Director – Excused
Motor Vehicle Craft Director – Present
Editor – Present
The Secretary read the financial reports.
The Secretary read the minutes of the last meeting. A motion was made to accept the minutes as read, seconded and passed.
Terri announced that we need volunteers to head up a committee for the tri-state and state convention that the Tulsa local will be hosting next year. Julie Forrester, Vinita Haley, Susan Wells, Sandie Mitchell and Terri Bullis have volunteered for the Convention Committee.
There were no committee reports.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
There was no unfinished business.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was no new business.
OPEN FLOOR:
Terri turned the floor over to National Business Agent Tom Maier. Tom gave an overview of the postal service. Tom explained how HR-22 is very important and how it would help the post office. He encourages all employees to let your state legislators know that you are in favor of this bill. Tom explained excessing to the membership, relocations and your rights. He stated that he will have a meeting with management June 1st or 2nd, and will return to our meeting in June to update us. Tom answered questions from the membership. Tom told the membership, if you have received an excessing letter about changing to the carrier craft, do not send the questionnaire back to the post office. Tom stated that this is the first time in Oklahoma history that they are excessing out of the installation.
Terri announced that we are going to have steward training the third week in June. She will send out notices later.
The name drawn for the attendance award was David Tevebaugh. David Tevebaugh was not present; the award is now at $450.00.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting, seconded and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 4:46 p.m.
